Patricia Talbert, Psy.D., Psychological Associate #94028485

My name is Dr. Patricia Talbert (she/her/hers), and I am a Registered Psychological Associate practicing under the direct supervision of Dr. Byrd-Olmstead. A Registered Psychological Associate is a pre- and post-doctoral clinician who has advanced clinical training but is not yet licensed to practice independently.

Experience and Areas of Expertise

I bring extensive experience providing treatment to transitional-aged youth, young adults, and older adults from diverse backgrounds and identities. My clinical work spans a variety of settings, including inpatient, partial hospitalization, outpatient, and school/college counseling environments. I have supported clients facing a wide range of challenges and am particularly passionate about helping individuals navigate depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, LGBTQIA+ concerns, gender diversity, life transitions, addiction, and relationship difficulties.

Therapeutic Approach

Using a psychodynamically informed lens, I aim to meet each individual where they are, exploring how their unique history, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence their present experiences. I believe that early attachments and interpersonal relationships play a critical role in personal development and can provide valuable insights when working through challenges in therapy.

In addition to psychodynamic principles, I take a person-centered and integrative approach to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. When appropriate, I incorporate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Collaborative and Empowering Therapy

I firmly believe that our lived experiences shape who we are and that we are the experts of our own stories. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to explore your history, patterns, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. Together, we will address the challenges that may be causing you to feel stuck or overwhelmed and work toward achieving the goals that brought you to therapy.

In-Person and Virtual Services Available

I offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions to meet your needs and preferences.
